The EC2 with the auto programming mode hardware is in layout at the PC
assembly facility that I use. Today's test is an alternate approach that
uses the EM2 to monitor mixture and calculate MAP table corrections. It
then sends the corrections over the serial data link to the EC2.
The good news is that this approach will allow current EC2s to auto
program if it is connected to an EM2 with the new feature. Old EM2s will
be upgradeable to auto program.
Conceptually, auto programming was fairly easy to do.
The hard part was making it relatively goof-proof. Some of the aftermarket
automotive EFI units have an auto program mode but Bruce Turrentine found
that they were so error prone as to be unusable. Experienced help was
almost always needed to set them up correctly.

I
assume you'll have this perfected when you ship my new EC-2, and
of course you'll get me another chip so I can "test" it on my new
setup with the RV-3 :-)
This
is going to be the most helpful feature you could add, for you, and us
:-)
Cheers,
Rusty (ready and willing test
subject)
