Subject: [FlyRotary] air filters?

Greetings again,

How many of you are running air filters?  I never realized that Tracy doesn’t have one.  It sure doesn’t seem to be a problem for him, and he flies off of grass where there’s more airborne dust than I’ll ever see at my paved field.   I have a filter, but haven’t mounted it in a box yet, so now I’m thinking of skipping it.

Thanks,

Rusty

Rusty, I also have not used an air filter.  I tried one time with a KN foam filter and sucked that sucker through the 3" diam air intake hose up to the throttle body (fortunately I have a wide mesh stainless steel screen mesh over the throttle body).  I was testing it one the ground and knew when it happend, because the rpm suddenly dropped from 5300 to 4600 rpm.

Unless very dusty, I think you spend so little time in the grim ridden air that any wear is minimal.

MY $ 0.02 worth.
