Tracy, is your engine street ported?  That's an option, and I can't recall
if you had it done.

My engine (2nd gen 4 port with 9.7 CR rotors) was given a port cleanup but
almost no porting.  Top of port raised less than .1" which is less than  a
typical "street port".   FWIW, I think the estimates of huge power gains
with porting are way overblown at the RPM we operate at.  Note that the RX-8
engine does not open the secondary port barrel valves until the engine
reaches 6250 rpm.  Next time I build a 6 port engine (which will be for my
ailing RX-7) I will be doing some experimenting based on this observation.
