When I get
the mount plate out I'll drop some oil through the returns and make sure there
are holes in the mount plate under these points.

At the very least, you might
want to drill a few extra holes near the areas where you suspect the leaks to
be. At least that would limit the pooling in that
area.
FWIW, my mount
plate always leaked too. It's just an annoying few drips, that
I knew I couldn't stop without pulling everything apart. I plan
to have everything surgically clean when I put it together this
time.
