The search field seems to work, but I don't see what "filter" does. The
archives will help a lot. I hate asking questions that I know were asked
and answered 100 times before. Thanks!

[Sorry for not letting everyone know about this sooner... thanks for the whine, it reminded me to do something I should have done long ago. As for the "search" and "filter" fields, they're quite different... use "search" to look up a given word in the content of the message base. The "filter" thing works on the then-active field... by this I mean you can click on the column headings to sort on those fields. Once you've performed a sort, you can filter that field for a particular entry. For example, open the archive and click on the "Subject" header. The listserver will sort the database by subject. Then try typing the word "radiator" (for example) into the "Filter" box and click the "Display" button... the listserver will return all posts that included the word radiator in the subject. Frankly, the "Search" field will return more hits. Using the filter only works when folks are religious about proper use of the chosen field, and "Subject" is probably the most abused header item in any email box. IHTH. <Marv> ]
