I’m not Todd of course, but…

1.  How big did you port the wastegate, and how did you know it was too small?

If you don’t already have a turbo, try to get an 89-91.  They have bigger wastegate ports to start with.  Within a couple months, I should be able to let you know if the wastegate is large enough on the 89-91 turbo.   The port is too small if you still produce too much boost with the wastegate fully open.  With no exhaust restrictions, I’m expecting this to be a problem even with the larger ports.

2.  How do you plan to control the wastegate?

As you may have read previously, I’m planning to just use a mechanical cable to manually control the wastegate for my normalized setup.  This may or may not prove to be a good idea, but I also have a relief valve to bleed any excess pressure that could result.  That should keep me from blowing the engine, but it wouldn’t be good to rely on the relief valve for boost control.

Rusty (trying to get 4 weeks off to get this thing ready to fly)
