With Eudora (it's free), you read the text of the message and then decide if you want to download the large attachment or have the server delete it. No looooong sessions waiting for pictures and attachment to download. Only the large attachments are filtered out. You get the text. You pick and choose what you want to see BEFORE it downloads big pictures. I'm not sure which other email programs do this. I couldn't figure out how to set up attachment limits in Netscape, for example.
