Yep, I don't feel much motivation to comment on impractical stuff like
SCORE, etc. It just isn't relevant to actually flying this engine.
It's not impossible, just impractical with what we homebuilders have to work
with.
As far as what grade of gas the rotary likes, the rotary is more
tolerant of octane than piston engines for several reasons (long discussion
needed, no time). Mazda reported at the time that in 1981 the
minimum octane required for full throttle operation was only 67 octane. I
think this was with a CR of 9.4 : 1. I always ran 87 octane with my 9.7 :
1 13B and still use that on my Renesis at 10: 1 CR. Most RX-8 drivers
report better performance on 87 than the specified 91 octane.
In other news, I got a barely audible phone message on
my machine from Rusty. I think he said he got minor damage but
was OK Would probably be without power for weeks? Said to say
Hi to all, no access to email.

Well I could always chime in with more pie-in-the-sky
ideas. I have
plenty. :-)
Ferinstance...No one responded to my
third point last week regarding how
particular the 13B is regarding
gasoline and its various grades and
flavors. Not a word regarding the
SCORE technology allowing it to run
Diesel/Jet/Kerosene.
