By the way I work just a few minutes from ATS Turbonetics and will be taking to them soon to mod the turbo so ill
let you know what they say.
That's interesting. I just got off the phone with Max Heywood (owner of ATS). My turbo has just been rebuilt and modified per his web page (at a very reasonable price) and will ship back to me today/tomorrow.

We also talked about controlling the wastegate. Max feels I should use the stock boost controller and make it adjustable either on the ground or via a cockpit control. He's going to send me a info on how to do that.

Here are Max's comments on what happened to my old turbo:

3 things can cause a turbine wheel to drop off that I'm aware of 1/Overspeeding, 2/ Excessive Heat 3/ Fatigue (from old age) or any combo of these. The larger compressor wheel will slow down the rotational speed of the rotor assembly which will help overcome overspeeding.

He wants me to check that I have a minimum of 250 ML /min oil flow from the turbo at idle to eliminate item 2. Item 3 is no longer applicable since the turbo is now rebuilt to his exacting standards of precision and balance.
