In answer to Paul Klusman's note, re: the effect on the horizontal stab due
to a weighty elevator.
Let's get real here, Paul - we're talking about ounces here, not pounds!
Filling the concavity with one of the various super-light materials
available and even covering it with a light fiberglass lay-up for durability
won't add more than a couple of ounces. When you consider the possible (and
probable) variations in finishing techniqes, this elevator isn't likely to
be off the skirt of the bell curve of any other similar Lancair elevator.
Additionally, when you also consider that a lot of folks are putting pitch
trim servos in the elevator, the small additional filler weight and
attendent balance lead is a drop in the bucket.
