Bill,
I have a 2 blade MT on my 235L2C which works great. The only limitation I
don't like is that 2050rpm to 2350rpm must be avoided for torsional
vibration reasons. I do not know if this also applies to a C2C, but it
probably does. It just means that I cruise at 2400 rpm when I would prefer
to run a slightly lower rpm and higher manifold pressure. It also reduces
prop to ground clearance by 1/2 inch as it is 1 inch larger in diameter
than the Demuth. Takeoff performance and initial climb are greatly improved
over the performance with the wooden Demuth like yours with which I had been
flying. Max performance at altitude is identical with either prop.
I don't know how to get an MT without paying through the nose. I bought
mine through Lancair. The prop arrived as promised with one defective part.
The wire leads for the bolthead rpm counter had been damaged where they
emerged from the nylon brush holder block, apparently when the potting was
trimmed.. An E-mail to Germany got me a whole new assembly by overnight air
at MT's expense. I also got good rapid responses to questions about some of
the fractured English translation in the otherwise excellent manual.
It added about 20 pounds over the flyweigh Demuth but all usable airplane
loadings stayed in the CG envelope with no other changes. I think it is
worth the bucks.
