I did not mean to imply anything about the quality of Jake's work or the
quality of his employees, only the cost of living (doing business) in the
bay area versus the San Diego area.  ... I do think it is at least twice as
much as Southern CA ... it's just crazy up there,
   I don't know how he does it... my shop rate is $60/hr ... I have employees
that make over two thirds of what Jake is charging you, $28/hr would not
come close to covering my overhead... electricity alone is nearly $3.00 per
billable hour and rent is $12.50 per billable hour, naturally those expenses
get divided up between all jobs inhouse, but you can see that with only a
few jobs at a time there no way I could compete with $28/hr.  Like I said, I
don't know how he does it.
  I'm glad you found someone local that does great work at such a great price.
