But, Taiwan made Chen Shin 4x5s are the tires that currently exist and work on the Matco wheels as a replacement for the extinct "Lamb" brand. These are 8-ply tires that clearly state "not for highway use", so don't land on any highways. <3. A good place to purchase tires? & 4. Expected price to pay...> Support your kit supplier -- Buy'em from Lancair and the $30's price is about right -- check your Lancair parts catalog. Also, buy new tubes. To conserve your tires and tubes, install Tim Ong's oil/air oleos, use plenty of talc when you assemble the wheels and keep the inflation up. Underinflated or low pressure tires (such as 28 psi in the nose) cause extreme wear to the tubes at the sidewalls that can lead to leaks and flat tires. Consider new spacers and/or axle nuts since they wear out rapidly, even if you keep the wheels on tight. May as well consider Cleveland brake pads (best Matco replacements) since you are disassembling the wheels. OK, go ahead and check the rotors variance from .25 inches. Matco's later ones are better (harder) and if the wear is sufficient, replace them too. If not, consider swapping right and left since you have worn the right rotor more by trying to keep your motorized lawn dart on the centerline. Buy an extra tire and tube and carry them in the airplane since no FBO has immediate access to these tires.
