Fortunately for me, I live in Spokane, WA. In WA....you have to pay 8% sales tax when the plane is certified and then a minimal license fee after that. As far as I can ascertain....WA considers the location of the aircraft as it's "base". If the aircraft is based in WA, then the rules apply, but what's fortunate for me is that I live 25 miles from Coeur d' Alene, Id. That's where I'm going to base my aircraft...so I'm off the hook with the state of WA. As far as I know, Idaho has not a care in the world whether anyone has an aircraft or not.
