We have installed a 20lb gas strut to our baggage door. It seems to work
very well with one end attached to the baggage compartment ceiling, and the
other end attached to the forward hinge. We used ball mounts at both ends.
The gas strut is available from Napa part # BK.819-5583. When doing this
installation the hinges need to be more securely attached to the baggage
door, we found extra bids were not enough. We also needed to create a small
phenolic gusset to extend the base of the aluminum hinge.
