Thanks guys for the many and varied posts on the subject. One point that
has come out loud and clear is that there is confusion between the "DATUM"
and the FS 0 point. Far be it from me to enlighten the enlightened or as
they say "Teach my grandmothers to suck eggs" but in the posts, at least,
they appear sometimes to be used interchangeably.
You can use any "DATUM"datum you like for the calculation of the moments.
This will give you a C of G range which is expressed as a distance from the
chosen "DATUM". This point has then to be expressed as a distance (or FS)
from FS 0 which my manual says is the the "after face of the firewall". The
calculation for this is simple.
I took Rob Wolf's advice and went back to the factory and asked them for the
C of G range as FS numbers.
I will post them when I know. Again many thanks to you all for sharing your
experiences and knowledge.
