I have occasionally seen this done by mechanics on certificated airplanes to cure unsightly spinner to cowl alignment. I was told that depending on the condition of the bond of the rubber to the metal plate (no delamination) and condition of the rubber itself (no cracks in the pucks that will be in tension) there should be no problem. Seems it's a common practice for some FBO's doing engine work. The only drawback I can see (the above caveats being met) is if the rubber has become hardened with age and heat. Then, you may not get the vibration damping new rubber will afford. Can't say whether this is a problem or not since that will be the case even before moving them around.
