This you haven't heard before but my pocket book requires me to ask.
Lord mounts for the 360 Lyc cost about $100 each with four needed for an
engine. The top mounts compress on the rear side and the front mounts
compress on the forward side. Mechanics that I have conferred with say
that some aircraft go for more than 20 years on an original set of
mounts but, since my engine is sagging below the top of the cowling by
nearly 3/4 inch, I want to do something to improve appearance but also
don't want to buy new if I can avoid. My engine has been mounted on the
original mounts for about 8 years but has only 160 hours total time of
operation.
Can the mounts be switched top to bottom? What affect can I expect on
vibration attenuation by switching top to bottom? Can the direction of
those individual mounts be reversed rather than switched top to bottom?
Who has done this or has knowledge of it having been done? Greg
Nelson
