Gene,
All turboprops that I've seen that need air to drive a gyro use low PRESSURE
air from the engine. Check your engine over, it should have a port for pressure
on the turbine section somewhere. Just don't tap the hot side. Vac gyros run
just fine on pressure rather than suction.
If all else fails, put in an HSI. Collins made a bullet proof unit called the
PN-101. Only comes in 28v. Your STEC will love it. Used price is around $4,500.
