My hangermate went thru the same drill, first modifying, then designing from
scratch, a cowl to fit a 200 HP (bumped to about 225 HP by Lycon) angle
valve IO360 on his RV6A. The effort resulted in a beautiful cowl, a 2 way
timed run at about 500' agl averaging about 235 mph (level about 1 mile
before the speed trap) and a nice set of molds which he later sold. This is
a fixed tricycle gear with a lot of aero mods like Klaus Savier wheel pants
and gear leg fairings, plenum cooling and induction, some gap seals, etc...
He has had this engine for at least 500 hours and so far there is no
downside. We have flown many 3 hour + legs with them in our 180 hp Hartzel
RV6 and they are taxiing away from the the gas pump before we land taking
less gas too. Hope it works out the same way in the LNC2. Our hangermates
always seem to enjoy our asking how much fuel they bought, just wait till
our Legacy is flying. Steve
