We're at precisely this juncture on my ES and have also found that the fast
build vertical doesn't quite fit where it should. We called Lancair to ask
about this and were told to "put it where it fits best". That ends up being
about an inch behind where the foot of the stab's center vertical post
would sit over the rear spar in the horizontal stab. If we put it where it
should go, there is a bad fit where the sternpost meets the fuselage. While
we haven't "set things in concrete" yet, the plan for now is to put the
vertical a bit behind where it belongs so we don't have to do a lot of work
to the fuselage to accomodate it. We may have to beef up the rear end if
the horizontal, but at this point, it looks like it would be the simplest
solution. If there are any better ideas or solutions, I'd welcome them.
