We called Lancair to ask about this and were told to "put it where it fits best". That ends up being about an inch behind where the foot of the stab's center vertical post would sit over the rear spar in the horizontal stab. If we put it where it should go, there is a bad fit where the sternpost meets the fuselage. While we haven't "set things in concrete" yet, the plan for now is to put the vertical a bit behind where it belongs so we don't have to do a lot of work to the fuselage to accomodate it. We may have to beef up the rear end if the horizontal, but at this point, it looks like it would be the simplest solution. If there are any better ideas or solutions, I'd welcome them.
