Your engine mount is (or damn well better be) steel, probably something
tough and strong like 4130, not aluminum. I've had mine powder coated, plus
the steel landing gear legs, in white, and I know of several others who have
too. Looks good and sure beats the easily scratched black paint they come
in. Further, I think a crack would be easier to detect in the white powder
coated parts. The temperatures and duration of the heat applied won't affect
the steel.
For aluminum, go for anodizing. It's very tough and almost completely
inhibits corrosion. Certain anodize coatings are also an extremely good
insulator with breakdown voltages for the commonly applied thicknesses up in
the hundreds of volts plus. So if you do anodize your aluminum parts, don't
try to use it as a ground return (on our type construction, ground returns
should be run via wires anyway) as it's ossible you won't get a good
connection to it.
