Regarding Alec's posting on iv-p windows and nose strut issues, I agree that
these are the two achilles heels of the iv-p.  Alec, to the best of my
knowlege in every instance of a iv-p window blow out it has been the door
window that failed.  I believe there are about six such instances, but I
don't know the exact number.  As far as I know there has not been a window
blow out when the AD fix was complied with.  I would be very interested to
know if anyone knows of an exception to this.  The thing that interests me
is why have all of the failures occured at or above 19,000ft?  The other
problem that seems to come up from time to time is not so much the over
center issues with the nose gear you addressed, but the nose strut being
unable to tolerate any landing surface other than smooth pavement. Your
suggestion on the nose gear seems like a good one to me.  Otherwise I agree
with you they are superb handling aircraft with great performance.
