I am thinking of installing some kind of mechanical override. It may be a simple pull of some type the pilot can easily reach on the lower console. It would be awful to have the gear handle stuck in the up position because of a broken wire in the release circuit for that solenoid. I also have heard from the avionics shop some builders are not using the solenoid. I would appreciate any comments from other builders who have addressed this problem.
