A fellow pilot has suggested that air conditioners aren't really needed because of the short time required to get airborne and climb to a cool cruise altitude. I'd like to offer a contrary "design reference mission". I expect more than half of most pilot's flights to be local with landing practice, maneuver practice, sight-seeing tours for friends, or just flying around. This kind of low altitude flight doesn't get you much temperature relief in the Summer in hot areas. So, everyone working on air conditioning concepts please don't stop. There are customers out here eagerly looking for them. I'm hoping to find an effective system for a Legacy with a weight penalty under 30 lbs. Even better would be something portable so that the weight penalty could be a flight by flight option. It looks like the consensus on Peltier based systems is that they just require too much power. Has anyone considered a liquid nitrogen based system? How heavy is a typical freon-compressor system implementation? Has anyone calculated the needed capacity? I've heard about 20,000 BTUs of max capability is about right... Thoughts, opinions...? Thanks, Valin Thorn Legacy Depositor 75 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html LML Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair Please send your photos and drawings to marvkaye@olsusa.com. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
