Go to Radio Shack and get their Engineer's Notebook, Integrated
Circuit Applications. In it you will find a section on the 555 timer
chip. This chip can be used to control a relay, and you will find
circuit diagrams showing you how to put the circuit together (a
couple of capacitors, a resistor, a couple of diodes, and a relay).
You could also try doing a google.com search on the 555 timer and
find some circuit diagrams on the web.
