Ed,
The acutal building time depends on where you are on the learning curve. If
you have already built four or five planes, the estimate might not be far off.
The first time you will spend a lot of time learning the necessary skills as
well as when to follow the manual and when not. For the inital project, I
would doubt less than three times the estimate, and would believe ten.
If you love to build things, are crazy about airplanes and have a tolerant
family, go ahead. You'll never regret it.
