I run an IO-360 with 10:1 pistons, and I live in San Antonio, TX. It gets hot here! Key to good oil cooling in my case is the fact that I have two oil coolers, one on each side of the engine at the rear of the cowled area. Oil is ran through the left cooler and then through the right cooler (the coolers are in series as pertains to oil path). Each cooler is fed with air coming off the back of the top area between the cylinders and the top of the cowling. In order to get enough cooling air to satisfy both the cylinders and the oil coolers one must enlarge the front air inlets to the cowling. I believe mine are either 4 or 4 1/2 inches in diameter. I will have to measure them to be sure since it has been quite awhile since I modified the cowling. In addition, there are louvers on both undersides of the cowling near the rear to allow more exit area. These louvers are in addition to my enlarging the exit area of the cowling to start with. Remember, if air can't get out the bottom of the cowling it won't come in the top front. The above system works really great and I don't have any unsightly NACA scoop coming in the side or top of the cowling. Hope this helps, Ken N15KH >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html LML Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair Please send your photos and drawings to marvkaye@olsusa.com. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
