Several years ago, Glasair issued a service instruction advising
replacement of Nylaflow tubing near the brake disk due to failures of the
tubing caused by heat. A search of the LNN archives will document several
Lancair Nylaflow failures causing runway excersions.
Frequent inspections of the Nylaflow tubing is advisable if you opt to use
it. Pay particular attention where it is subject to heat and frequent
flexing. The Nylaflow is lighter and less $$$$ than all other alternatives.
I used teflon tubing with SS braid. Nylaflow for brakes is in my opinion
foolish considering that a failure of either brake will cause mega bucks in
damage, the Nylaflow failures documented in the LNN and the Glasair Service
Bulletin.
Unlike aircraft with a steerable nose wheel, one brake is not a backup to
the other.
