Interesting how this keeps coming up. After seeing the result of a failure
of the original aluminum parts with the rod end glued and bolted in, I had
some steel (4130 or equiv) ones made at a local machine shop. the proprietor
took my old parts and made exact copies with the exception that the
glued/bolted in rod end was replaced with a threaded hole that then had a
length of stainless rolled all-thread installed. The rod-end bearing was
then simply screwed onto the threaded stainless piece. If you have the
original part, any competent machinist should be able to duplicate it in any
alloy you wish.

Incidentally, I had two dozen pairs made and they were all sold around the
LA area within a week!
