I don't think it was a recommendation to actually fly this way. I can think of a dozen reasons why this would be stupid -- I think we all could -- but one design consideration for a landing gear safety system should be that scenario. More than once have I touched the ground again after the initial liftoff. I was real glad that the wheels were still down (particularly since it was a Cessna 150). Concerning rental trucks, I have had several bad experiences with U-Haul. While their so-called "reservation system" fools you into thinking they will save the truck you request, it is actually first-come, first-served on the day you appear. They say they try to have the truck you asked for, or a bigger one, when you show up, but they don't do a very good job. You may not get any truck at all. I have also had the misfortune of driving my Lancair cross-country in mid-summer with a steadily deteriorating U-Haul. First the power braking failed, then the power steering failed, then the air conditioning failed ..... If you have any choice at all, use someone else. - Rob Wolf >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html LML Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair Please send your photos and drawings to marvkaye@olsusa.com. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
