Rob:
Sacramento Skyranch only makes flex hose, not hard line. The Stratoflex 124
construction features a PTFE (Teflon) inner tube surrounded by a stainless
steel braid with a silicone rubber overjacket/firesleeve. A hose assembly
will have stainless steel ends that are swaged on. These hoses have infinite
life and are replaced on condition inspection only.
The Aeroquip screw on fittings and flex hose provided in the kit are OK to
use IF they are terminated properly, IF they are firesleeved, IF they are
pressure AND flow tested and IF they are replaced every few years when they
get stiff. The stratoflex hoses are safer and cheaper over time plus they
look nicer and don't soak up oil like a sponge.
You are on your own for the stainless steel hard lines. I use a lever arm
type bender and a roller flaring tool. Do not use a tube cutter, it will
work harden the stainless. Cut with a hack saw and finish with a belt
sander. Lightly deburr and then flare. I used the aluminum B nuts and
sleeves on the stainless tubing to save weight.
If you are stuck and only have a couple of lines to make, send me the parts
and an aluminum prototype and I'll bend up and flare a stainless copy.
Regards
Brent
