I made a very utilitarian shut off for my NACA Duct by buying a 4" sliding
vane shut off from Builder;s Square or Lowe's or Home Depot.
This was being sold in the department that sells sawdust vacuums and tubing,
fittings, etc. for ducting your sawdust into a vacuum.
It is made of injected molded black plastic, and weighs 6 or 8 oz.
I put it inline with the 4" SCAT tubing coming from the tail, and I fashioned
a cable fixture out of aluminum so that I can access it by pulling a cable
handle--which I mounted between the stowed wheels in the belly.
In the late fall, I pull the handle to close off the duct, and in the spring,
I open the duct. Works swell.
You can buy 12 volt motorized units from mobil home parts centers, but they
weigh a couple of pounds.
The push-pull cable is light and works fine.
