They therefore include an adapter that bolts onto the engine in place of the oil screen assembly. As the IO-360 Ijust bought already has a spin-on filter, it seemed foolish to go to all the effort and expense to buy a new filter adapter to replace the existing one. The guys at Airwolf just told me that they have an "oil filter relocation kit" (part number AFC-K007-F, price $350) which includes essentially a dummy oil filter that spins on where the oil filter normally goes. This dummy filter is threaded for hoses leading to a firewall-mounted bracket to ehich the oil filter spins on. The dummy filter is about 1-1/4 inches long. This setup is a savings over the kit that includes the standard adapter (AFC-K001, $495 in the Lancair catalog), plus is easier to install. Again, hoses are extra. The only reason I'm doing this (with a long engine mount) is that my firewall-mounted battery gets real close to the back end of the oil filter (within 3/8 inch). Relocating it to the firewall solves this problem, as the battery rack will clear the short dummy filter by about 1-1/2 inches. Otherwise, I'd save the weight and the money and use the factory spin-on setup it already has. (This is exactly the setup that I installed in my Mazda Miata, though that one was made by someone else. And cost a lot less....) - Rob Wolf >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html LML Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair Please send your photos and drawings to marvkaye@olsusa.com. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
