Every company has a reason why you should use "their system". If painting
clear over prepeg was such a problem I am sure that the factory's airplanes, as
well as the rest of the many other beautifully painted Lancair's which used
clear would be having a problem.
I believe that the (unbiased) rule is decide on the system you want to use and
stay with that system. If you use PPG then use their primer (over the fast
build primer) and their paint, and their clear (if that is what one decides to
use). If you don't want to use a basecoat clear system that's fine too, but
use one system.
