The way I will probably design my backup is to use a momentary switch with a red cover over it (saying emergency flap retract), so that if the flaps fail, I can flip up the red cover and retract the flaps. The momentary switch will be so that the flaps will stop when you let go of the switch, just in case the limit switch isn't working. The CB idea that I saw posted, is ok, but if you are flying with an "experienced" pilot, or one who thinks he's doing you a favor at least. Might see the CB open, and push it in because we all remember the check list "Circuit breakers in". What if that happened on short final. YIKES!!!! I like the red cover indicating emergency idea myself.
