Even though they may not look like a cold joint, it can sure happen, and they can ge very intermittant. Jut moving them around can make the connection. If you used quick connect terminals, I would suggest using contact cleaner on all connections. Also, it's quite possible that one of the connections were slightly loose, which caused an arc, in which case there might have been some "soot" acting as an insulator, and just moving them around would make the connections work. If it were me, I would wiggle every wire back there while the motor is running, to see if you could isolate it, but if you can't get it to happen again, go over all the solder connections again with a soldering iron, spray all the connectors with contact cleaner, tighten all quick dissconnect terminals so they are very firm when slipping them on, and call it good.
