What I disagree with is that no one is willing to spend the $$$ to TRY and DEVELOP a well engineered V8 engine, therefore V8's are suspect. American Engine is trying to change that by doing the necessary homework. In addition my post is not a call for sales. The program has the $$$ necessary to complete the task. My final sentence makes it clear that 2 customers will be working diligently to fly next year, with 6 others behind them, I being one. I mentioned that we all expect problems to arise, which will have to be reengineered where necessary. Hopefully if the engineers have done their job correctly, there will be little redo, but no one expects this huge project to be perfect right out of the box. I expect the company to make some noise about their product to the press after they have test celled the production engine for many hours. And then there will be silence until the first LIV's are flying. What else would you expect a responsible company to do? Doug & Susan: I suggest you go back and reread my post. All of your questions were answered. I know about the Bouley PMA engine as I almost bought one. You state that my post was reminiscent of his engine. Hardly. He advertised for sale to all comers publically long before he had product. He did not claim to revolutionize aviation, just to produce a quality knockoff of the Cont 550. His castings were poor (I inspected them at Victor Aviation) both on the inside and outside. My post brings to this forum legitimate challenges which must be properly addressed when designing a V8 engine. I am interested in an alternative engine for my LIV, but I'm more interested in a company which is seriously addressing those problems which I mentioned. If they have properly analyzed the loads and have carefully calculated the heat transfer requirements, then MAYBE they have something. Only flight testing will confirm.......stay tuned....
