I'm new to the composite aircraft scene. However, I have build two Thorp
T18's, which are all-metal aircraft. I recommend using the AN hardware
specified by the manufacturer----Lancair.
Structural pop rivets do not swell to fill the hole when they are being
pulled. AN470AD rivets will swell to fill the hole completely when
properly set. This gives the attachment excellent shear strength, which is
what is needed in the push-pull tubes.
I suggest you find someone in the area EAA chapter who has a pneumatic
rivet squeezer. This will make the task of rivettng your push-pull tubes
easy and you will have the job done right!
