We use blind rivets in the Glasair rod ends. "Pop" rivets are a trademark from
what I read in Sportplane a couple months ago... These are not CherryMax either,
so you don't need a special (read expensive) tool. We usually use 5 evenly
spaced rivets around the circumference. At least that's how the aileron
interconnects and pushrods are made. I have never bucked a rivet (yet) -- I
can't imagine doing that for control rods. How do you support the other end of
the rivet?
Whatever you do, make sure the rivet is appropriate for the control. I know soft
rivets are NOT interchangeable with hard ones. I don't know how the blind rivets
are specified.
