Is Continental's different or was this just a typo? A--This is not a typo. All engines with a TC to run 80/87 have lower CR's. I will post a separate reply with all the Lyc and Continentals that have a TC to run 80/87 and their CR's. Q--My real question is whether I can run a Lycoming IO-360-B on the new avgas (82 UL?) or on the present day unleaded autogas. Care to comment on the competition's product? A--The Lyc. IO-360-B, 180 bhp @ 2700, is TC'ed to run 100/100LL only and has a CR of 8.5:1. Q--On another topic, I notice a somewhat increased tendency for my Continental O-200 to pick up carburetor ice when running on autogas rather than avgas (80/87 or 100LL + Alcor TCP). Is this something that y'all have observed, A--It could be due to the poor quality of autogas. Autogas also has a higher vapor pressure. Q--The question here is whether we're likely to be more susceptible to carb ice when the new unleaded avgas comes on line. A--Next generation engines will be fuel injected and icing due to fuel will not be an issue. Q--By the way, I assume we don't need to get STC's to run experimental aircraft on autogas, do we? A--It's Experimental!
