You can read the blurbs at goodyear (and maybe aircraft spruce). If you skid a lot, or you have a high wear situation, there's an argument for cheap tires. If you don't fly much, and weathering is a concern, you might want to go for better tires. e.g. within the Goodyear line, the difference between flight custom II's and flight custom III's, among other things is Kevlar and a good bit more total mass, and I think deeper grooves for disbursing water. III's are an extra $50 each vs. II's.
The best tires are less than a tank of gas and less than good car tires. What grade tires would you get for your $500,000 car that goes 100mph on the asphalt?
Don't forget new tubes...

What are the tires of choice for your Lancair IV? I fly about 60 hours / year in the IV. The plane is hangared all the time. I see there is quite a difference in price between the Condor and the Goodyear....
Any suggestions appreciated!
Thanks, Dico
