Have you calibrated your instruments with something reliable like a good mercury thermometer?

Normally CHT has a much shorter time constant than oil temp. If CHT levels off in the green you probably have enough air flow.

Possibly problem with vern a therm or hose routing not flowing oil through coolers. You really need temporary instrumentation to measure 4 temperatures, inlet and outlet oil and air temperatures to the oil coolers. That data will point you in the right direction.

Hello All

I am having unbelievable trouble cooling my engine.

I have installed two oil coolers, got the Zavatson plenum on, yet l can't complete a circuit without the oil temp hitting red! I am cutting out the intakes to make them larger now and opening up the outlet too.

l have a Mccauley prop on the aircraft, would this make a difference compared to the Hartzell?

Thanks

Richard
