Many years ago, while building the origional ES, I was
given the project of building the tail feathers. I was
using a straight edge to make the rudder fit into the
stabilizer cavity and the surface of the rudder to be
flush with the stabilizer. Lance N., Jerry Parks and
Pat O'Brian all said "you need the rudder to extend
out into the airstream to prevent the separation of
the airflow over the control surface".
