Bill,

I had a Bonanza with prop de-ice. Slightly different Cont. 550 engine but the brushes mounted on the top side of the engine case and the slip ring mounted to the crank flange.  The Air Conditioning compressor was mounted on the back side of the engine. The Hartzell de-ice system requires a fairly expensive timer that heats only one blade at a time.  I have de-ice on my 4-balde MT prop with a front mounted AC compressor. I had to design and manufacture the entire slip ring and brush mounting system on my IV-P.

I purchased a used Hartzell prop, supposedly removed from a IV-P.  It was advertised as reversible with deice and it included the governor, the brush-block but not the slip-ring assembly or any of the other deice components.

I have contacted Hartzell but no reply.  If any of the members has a hartzell prop with deice, I would really appreciate some help with the component layout, especialy with the brushblock as it mounts on the engine and the sliprings as they attach to the prop..  A photo would really be appreciated.

Regards, Bill Hogarty
