The light only goes out= when the canopy transverse activation rod is over center.The light is loca= ted about 5 inches from the airspeed indication in the Dynon Skyview and is= totally prominent during takeoff roll. Is it infallible ?=2C no=2C if t= he closing handle is all the way down the light will goes out. However i= f the handle is all the way down before the canopy comes down=2C the dogs d= on't allow the canopy to close the last 3."This is a half day job (full day= with coffee and drop-ins).Every Lancair should have one period=2C and I fe= el guilty that it took 3 years of flying the Lancair to finally put it in.P= ersonally=2C I would be very cautious about any safety latch that a rescue = team would have trouble finding to pull me out of a crash landing.And yes t= oo=2C for the handle=2C I drilled half inch holes=2C epoxied in phenolic p= lugs and then drilled out for a brushed ss handle.And my highly tailored Ci= gars checklist=2C has C for Controls=2C Canopy and Camber (flaps)=2C plus a= final "flow" to check 6 items upon taking the runway.Just my approach=2C n= ot for everyone.
