Byron,

I've been thinking of a solution for many moons now and so far I've come up
with this:

The spinner needs to be mounted in rubber on the back end so it can do it's
micro-wobble thing.  The front needs to be stabilized on center and then
"nailed" on center.  I'm not flying yet but it seems to me the front spinner
bulkhead rubber is a good step toward stabilizing the spinner on center.
The missing ingredient on the front is a "quasi connection" between the
front part ahead of the front bulkhead and the spinner itself.

Visualize a front bulkhead of glass with a center cone shaped "tit" about 1"
long by 2" diameter.  Then visualize the forward part spinner cavity filled
with expansion foam through a small hole in the forward bulkhead.  This
would "nail" the front part of the spinner on center but still allow the
spinner to be removeable when necessary.

The backplate needs to be two parts:

The center part which bolts up behind the prop hub

The outer part which screws to the trailing edge of the spinner

The two parts are then screwed together with a rubber gasket sandwiched
which allows the inevitable wobble to have it's way.  I think the rubber
would then be sacrificed and not the expensive backplate.
