I take it from your post that the starter is slipping ?? If so the only cure I'm aware of is to replace the unit if it is under warranty, or send it off to be O/hauled with the correct spring and shaft. As I remember (CRS) , the shaft cannot be undercut to fit the new "tighter fitting" spring. For those that pull the engine through and hear or feel the starter dragging, this is normal for the newer style adapter. Best to contact your local TCM Rep and discuss the problem with them, they have a little more lattitude to fix things out of warranty than the distributors of field mechanics.
