hi there

If already on an airplane, the N number remains for five years after expiration.
but,
if you have a reserved number, you could lose that to someone else claiming it after your expiration date.

it only cost $10/year to hold a number

The FAA Registry says that tail number is assigned, but expired.  Apparently it expired in 2011.  I thought that they took the number from you if you didn’t renew it??

The lady in the house was very lucky since the plane hit the garage and didn’t catch fire.  Sad day for the pilot’s family.
